Why Hair Loss Happens on GLP-1s — And What You Can Do About It

* Watch my original vlog on hair loss with GLP-1s here. *

Yes, hair loss can happen on GLP-1 medications like Ozempic, Wegovy, Zepbound, and Mounjaro—and in this video, I explain exactly why. Most of the time, it’s not the medication itself causing the issue—it’s the rapid weight loss, changes in nutrient intake, and shifts in hormone levels that put your hair into what’s known as telogen effluvium: a stress response where many hairs shed at once.

I break down the key contributors, including protein and micronutrient deficiencies, thyroid changes, and drops in estrogen that can happen when fat mass decreases. I also walk through what to expect, how long it typically lasts, and when it might be time to dig deeper with your doctor.

Most importantly, I share strategies to manage and prevent further loss—like increasing protein, checking your labs, avoiding crash dieting, and supporting your scalp with targeted treatments and gentle care.

Thanks for watching and always remember: small tweaks lead to massive peaks!
